Checking the reviews–or leaving your own–can be a great way to find out whether or not a vacation is as good as its advertisements make it out to be.

When looking for a vacation, every option you find is going to look like heaven on earth. After all, brochures are practically poetic, and photos on travel sites always make every destination seem like paradise. That can make it hard for you, the traveler, to figure out which vacation spots are actually worthwhile.

So, when you find a trip that looks like it might be a winner but you want to be sure, don’t agonize over whether or not you’ll have as much fun as the people in the commercials–check the reviews!

In the reviews, people will swap their stories and speak candidly about their experience on certain trips. If the accommodations at the hotel were as life-changing as they were advertised, for example, then you’ll probably hear about it in the reviews; if not, then you’ll definitely hear about it in the reviews.

This simple advice can give you a remarkably clear picture of what accommodations and attractions will actually be like. Read the reviews, book your trip, love your vacation–it’s as simple as that. And then, when you’ve come back from your once-in-a-lifetime getaway, pay your vacation-karma forward by going back and leaving a review of your own.
